The Lafayette Commodores showed just why they are one of the top teams in the state by responding to adversity and claiming a dominating 44-12 win over the Louisville Wildcats Friday night at William L. Buford Stadium in the second round of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs.
Thanks to a couple of quick strikes, two scores within 30 seconds, the Wildcats put themselves back into the game late in the second quarter, pulling within two, 14-12, with 2:57 left in the first half. (November 15, 2010, Page 3B)

The Lafayette Commodores basketball season made the most of Senior Night at the LHS gym Tuesday, as both the girls’ and boys’ teams came away with victories over the Lewisburg Patriots. The girls won 75-24, while the boys won a narrow 47-46. (February 3, 2010, Page 8)
OHS SOCCER — The Oxford Lady Chargers soccer team advanced in the Class 5A playoffs Monday with a historic 3-1 win over Saltillo. Tonight will be the first time the Lady Chargers have hosted a North Half title match and the opponent, Ridgeland, is a familiar foe that defeated OHS in the 2006 North Half title match. The Chargers unfortunately weren’t as lucky as the Lady Chargers as they fell 2-0 to Callaway in the second round of the 5A playoffs Monday. (February 2, 2010, Page 8)
