      UVA walks off against Rebels in College World Series opener

      OMAHA, Neb. — Offense was hard to come by for Ole Miss and Virginia Sunday night. But the Rebels’ arms gave Virginia a few more chances.
      Now Ole Miss’ season is on the brink.
      Mike Papi delivered a walk-off RBI double in the ninth inning, and Ole Miss dropped its opening game of the College World Series with a 2-1 loss to Virginia in front of 23,393 fans at TD Ameritrade Park. (June 16, 2014, Page 6)

        Kirby, Cavaliers win arms race against Ole Miss

        OMAHA, Neb. — Stats don’t always tell the whole story, but they should have been a pretty good indicator of how Ole Miss’ game against Virginia was going to play out.
        It’s no surprise Sunday’s College World Series opener for both teams lacked offense for most of the night. In a game that could have gone either way, Virginia came out on top 2-1 (June 16, 2014, Page 6)

                    Defense, pitching shake off blunders, help Rebs break through

                    LAFAYETTE, La. — Before this season, OIe Miss coach Mike Bianco had led four different Ole Miss teams to an NCAA super regional. None of them got to the College World Series.

                    That’s not the case any more and it’s because the 2014 Rebels did what they had to do to overcome adversity and mistakes. They did it again Monday in a 10-4 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette that earned them a trip to the CWS. (June 10, 2014, Page 6)
