BLOG — Ole Miss is three days away from the start of its season.
The 18th-ranked Rebels’ first opponent is Boise State on Thursday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, and after beating up on each other for the last three-plus weeks in fall camp, quarterback Bo Wallace said Monday the team is “ready for some competition.”
Exactly what Ole Miss will see from the Broncos is a bit of mystery. Boise State has a new coach in former offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin, who returned after a season as the head coach at Arkansas State, and new coordinators in Mike Sanford (offense) and Marcel Yates (defense).
But Wallace said the offense is ready to counter anything the Boise State defense throws at it with its up-tempo attack, and if or when the Rebels get in the red zone, they can make life easier on themselves by converting. Ole Miss finished next to last in the Southeastern Conference a year ago in red-zone offense, scoring just 24 touchdowns in 46 trips.
Watch Wallace talk about these topics and more in the following video.
Head coach Hugh Freeze also held his first in-season press conference Monday. Watch a portion of the coach’s meeting with the media in the video below.
