BLOG: Ole Miss, UVA postponed until Saturday

OMAHA, Neb. — Ole Miss’ elimination game against Virginia Friday night in the College World Series has been postponed because of inclement weather.

The game will continue at 2 p.m. on Saturday. If Ole Miss wins, the teams will play again in an if-necessary game on Sunday for the right to advance to the CWS championship series against the winner between Vanderbilt and Texas, which will now play Saturday night at 7. The time for Sunday’s game if needed will be determined at a later time.

The Cavaliers had two on with nobody out in the top of the second with no score when lightning struck, prompting the game to be delayed. Heavy wind and rain followed for the next hour and a half. The game was called at approximately 9 p.m.

Both starters, Ole Miss’ Jeremy Massie and Virginia’s Josh Sborz, combined for 35 pitches. Massie threw 28 of them. (June 20, 2014)
