Leadership in sustainability has earned the Lafayette, Oxford and University of Mississippi community the designation of Valley Sustainable Gold Community by the Tennessee Valley Authority.
The award was given to city, county and university leaders Tuesday by TVA representatives during a ceremony at the Insight Park on campus. The LOU community is the only, and first, community to be given the gold deal designation in Mississippi.
The designation, initiated by TVA Economic Development, helps communities improve existing sustainability programs and increase ability to attract new investment and jobs to their communities. (January 28, 2014, Page 1)
