Former Ole Miss player Travis Macon is joining Jack Wright’s staff at Northwest Mississippi Community College.
Macon, who played offensive tackle under coach David Cutcliffe at Ole Miss from 2000-02, will be the Rangers’ new defensive line coach. The Starkville native comes to NWCC after serving as the defensive coordinator at Northeast the past two seasons and spending six seasons in Booneville overall.
I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter of my life here at Northwest,” Macon said in a statement released by NWCC Media Relations Director Kevin Maloney. “I feel like we’ve got a great staff in place and I’m appreciative of the opportunity Northwest has given me. I’m ready to get started and hit the ground running.”
Macon’s hire comes on the heels of Batesville native Jonathan Webster being hired to coach the defensive backs next season. Webster, who played at NWCC in 2003 and 2004, was most recently at NECC in 2011 and 2012. (January 7, 2014)
