Oxford High football fans wishing to learn more about the history of Missisisppi football and also help the booster club in the process can do so all in one night. The recently released “Mississippi Gridiron Gold” movie will be shown in the OHS auditorium Tuesday night at 7.
Cost to enter is $8 and half of the money collected that is collected will stay with the booster club. Oxford head coach Johnny Hill watched the movie last Tuesday and said the 80-minute movie featured interviews with several head coaches from around the state about why high school footbal was so important. Hill also the documentary also included details on the first high school game played in the state between Yazoo City and Winona, including an inteview with the player who scored the first touchdown in that contest.
Hill added there were segments of the movie shot at the annual football championships in Jackson. (August 14, 2013, Page 9)
