Austin Douglas and defensive end Kameron Wood have decided to leave the Ole Miss football team.
The 6-foot-2, 320-pound Douglas, former standout at South Panola and Northwest Mississippi Community College at center, was a walk-on who was looking to earn playing time this season. He decided to leave Oxford Sunday night. Douglas is looking at playing right away at an FCS program. Northwestern State and UT-Martin are two schools that have offered scholarships. Douglas is expected to make a decision on his next stop as early as today.
Wood, a 6-3, 265 pounder from Birmingham, Ala., is reportedly headed to play at Jacksonville State, according to the Anniston Star newspaper. Wood was originally recruited by former Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt and signed in 2011. He redshirted last season. Wood was behind several players at the end spot including freshman Robert Nkemdiche and sophomore Channing Ward, as well as veterans Cameron Whigham and C.J. Johnson. (August 14, 2013, Page 8)
