WATER VALLEY — There’s no such thing as an off-season anymore. You’re either in-season or your training to be in-season.
Once football season concludes, winter workouts start. Then there’s the spring season. Once summer rolls around, 7-on-7 “season” clicks into high gear to fill the gaps between workouts.
But, even with the non-stop dedication it takes to play high-level athletics, there’s still something about the first day of practice — of the actual season.
Monday, all of North Mississippi dusted out the locker room stalls and hit the gridiron for the first official practice of the 2013 season.
Some schools, like Oxford, opened practice at 12:01 a.m. Others, like Water Valley, officially started the ‘13 season at 3 p.m.
Whether the stadium lights were on or the sun was scorching, the level of enthusiasm is still the same.
