Two former ‘Dores to face off in All-Star Game

Tyler Mize and Luke Stanley were recently named to The Beach League’s All-Star Game. 

Stanley, currently at Northeast Mississippi Community College, is listed as one of the second basemen on “Team 1,” while Mize, who is at Mississippi Delta C.C., is the lone utility player for “Team 2.”

With the Surf Riders, Stanley is hitting .271 with a .300 on-base percentage. Stanley has 13 hits in 16 games with five RBIs and three runs scored. The former ‘Dore shortstop has also played errorless ball to this point for the Surf Riders.

Mize is hitting .286 with a .339 on-base percentage for the Shore Eagles with 14 hits in 15 games played. He has also scored 10 runs with nine RBIs and leads the team with seven stolen bases.

The Beach League is an 11-team collegiate summer league based in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The All-Star game is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (July 2, 2013, Page 7)
