Sullivan picks law school over Tigers

Charley Sullivan’s childhood dream was a little different than many American boys.

Having grown up in Mississippi — he moved from Hattiesburg to Oxford during his freshman year — Sullivan didn’t attend a lot of Major League Baseball games. He did, however attend his fair share of Southeastern Conference games.

As such, his goal was never to play at Yankee Stadium. Instead, Sullivan dreamed of one day pitching under the bright stadium lights on Friday nights in the SEC, where he said he found his love for the game.

This season he accomplished that goal as Alabama’s Friday night starter for much of the 2013 campaign.

With little else to prove on the diamond, Sullivan decided earlier this month to return to Alabama to finish his undergraduate degree in the hopes of applying to law school rather than sign with the Detroit Tigers.
