Ole Miss got off to an early lead on the Texas Longhorns less than two months before the two meet on the field.
The Rebels gained their 20th verbal pledge for the 2014 signing class Saturday when Skyline (Dallas) defensive end Victor Evans chose to call Oxford home over Austin.
The 6-foot-3, 228-pound Evans, who has 13 offers overall, said Friday morning prior to his entrance at Ole Miss’ single-day football camp that he was impressed with the campus and the feel he was getting from the coaching staff. Co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach Jason Jones is his direct recruiting contact. He came to Oxford for a visit with his Skyline teammate, offensive lineman Ty Barrett, who also has the Rebels high on his list.
