Athletes travel to Oxford to get noticed

Nearly 200 of the South’s top football prospects for the 2014-17 classes paid Oxford a visit Wednesday for the second annual Southern Elite Combine presented by 247Sports and Varsity Preps.

Players took part in SPARQ testing during the morning, which included such drills as the 40-yard dash and vertical jump. A 7-on-7 competition was held during the afternoon portion to conclude the combine.

Guiding the kids through the day were volunteer high school coaches and even former NFL players.
