Four state championships and balance placed the Oxford High athletics department back on top in Class 5A for the 2012-13 school year.
OHS won the annual All-Sports Award from the Clarion Ledger and the MHSAA by logging 376.5 points during the past year. The score is based on how each team, both boys and girls, finishes the overall season in MHSAA playoffs. The information is tabulated, with state championships garnering 30 points, runner-up finishes 24 and teams that make the playoffs 13.5 points. Oxford defeated Starkville by 25.5 points a year after Starkville defeated Oxford by 24.5 points.
Oxford Athletics Director Johnny Hill gave credit to his coaches, the school board and superintendent Brian Harvey for helping win the award.
