Ole Miss men’s hoops releases schedule

BLOG — The first time Ole Miss fans will get a chance to see guard Marshall Henderson make a 3-pointer in a game that matters will be Nov. 8 against Troy.

Henderson, the leading scorer in the Southeastern Conference last year, and the Rebels return to the hardwood at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum for the first time against the Trojans, members of the Sun Belt. Ole Miss released its non-conference schedule today, a schedule that includes matchups against four teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season.

The Rebels, who made the tournament last year for the first time in 11 seasons, will play host to Pac-12 member Oregon Dec. 8. The Ducks advanced to the Sweet 16 last season after defeating Oklahoma State and Saint Louis in the second and third rounds respectively.

Ole Miss will also travel to play at Kansas State, a No. 5 seed in last year’s tournament, Dec. 5. The Rebels will play a total of six games in Oxford as well as four games in the Barclays Center Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y. prior to the start of Southeastern Conference play.

The Rebels will also travel to Western Kentucky, a 16 seed in the NCAAs last year, on Dec. 30, as well as Coastal Carolina on Nov. 16. For more on the schedule, see Wednesday’s Sports section. (June 25, 2013)
