VIDEO BLOG — Ole Miss garnered two new verbal pledges Friday night when Alvin and Calvin Moore of Bassfield chose to become Rebels.
The duo, who helped lead Bassfield to the MHSAA Class 2A state title last year, arrived at camp Friday excited about the opportunity to show their skills. Five hours later, Alvin Moore let the Ole Miss fans know he wanted to be a Rebel through his Twitter account.
Alvin Moore is a 6-foot, 190-pound linebacker prospect while Calvin is a 5-11, 190-pound athlete who is expected to play defensive back at Ole Miss. The brothers just picked up offers from Mississippi State at a camp Wednesday. Alvin already had an Ole Miss offer but his brother did not, until today when he showed coaches his speed. The thought of playing together was too much to pass up to the duo, who raved about the Ole Miss campus prior to starting camp. Neither had visited Oxford prior to Friday’s camp. At the time, both Alvin and Calvin thought there might be a battle between Ole Miss and MSU.
Alvin is not rated by Rivals.com, while Calvin is a two-star but both are expected to rise in the rankings, especially with a strong senior season. The brothers raise the Rebels total to eight commits from Mississippi players for the 2014 class.
Below is a video of the duo prior to them going through registration at today’s camp. Additional quotes from the brothers will be in Monday’s Recruiting Roundup.
