Oxford’s D.K. Metcalf was told by Ole Miss coaches to bring his A game to Friday’s elite camp. To the disappointment of some of the members of the 2014 class, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Metcalf did just that.
A great showing Friday night against players two years older allowed Metcalf, a wide receiver and free safety at OHS, to garner a scholarship offer. After sleeping on a decision, the rising sophomore decided to become Ole Miss’ first commitment for the 2016 class. He made his choice public Saturday morning as he and the rest of his teammates got ready to compete in the Hugh Freeze/Ole Miss 7-on-7 passing camp.
