Greenville-Weston senior outside linebacker Gerri Green came to Ole Miss, along with his teammates, to participate in the Hugh Freeze/Ole Miss Rebels 7-on-7 passing camp Saturday. This was Green’s first look at the Rebels’ facilities, and he took it all in as he played games on the practice field, the Indoor Practice Facility and even Vaught-Hemingway stadium.
While Vaught-Hemingway is under renovation, Green could still get an idea of what it would be like playing for Ole Miss on Saturdays next fall.
The Rebels have a tough fight ahead of them if they want to get a commitment out of one of the state’s top defensive players in the 2014 class. Green (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) has already received offers from fellow Southeastern Conference schools Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee. All have shown interest in Green, though no school has been able to become a clear frontrunner.
