Always on the Ball: Compliance office helps OM recruiting efforts

Ole Miss’ star-studded 2013 football recruiting class was made possible for several different reasons. Head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff worked extremely hard to land some of the best players in the nation through tireless work while the lure of early playing time and competing against other great players in the Southeastern Conference also made an impact.

There are other less recognized reasons, such as the diligent work of Matt Ball, Ole Miss Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, and his staff.

While Ball doesn’t consider himself to be a recruitnik, he is very aware of who is a verbal pledge and which players are coming to campus from an official and unofficial standpoint. Ole Miss’ compliance office works hand in hand with the football staff — all coaching staffs in all sports really — to help make sure signees are academically eligible when it comes time to report for summer school or the fall semester. (June 27, 2013, Page 7)
