Rangers fall in MACJC state opener

The No. 8 Pearl River Wildcats proved to be too much for the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers in the MACJC baseball tournament opener Thursday in Poplarville.

PRCC scored three early runs and then tacked on two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings en route to a 7-3 win over the Rangers, who will play NECC in an elimination game today at noon. NECC lost 19-1 to East Central. Domenick Carlini took the loss on the mound for the Rangers (29-15). Christian Talley earned the victory, while Ryan Deemes earned the save. He was able to garner a flyout from Jay King and struck out Phillip Correro with the bases loaded. (May 10, 2013, Page 7A)
