Earlier in the year, Aaron Greenwood was one of No. 23 Ole Miss’ go-to relievers. Alongside Tanner Bailey, Greenwood was a reliable bullpen option asked to bridge games from the starters to closer Brett Huber.
Recently, however, Greenwood has fallen on hard times. That was never more evident than last weekend. With rival Mississippi State in town, and plenty of opportunities to bring Greenwood in, head coach Mike Bianco opted for other options.
By the end of the weekend, Ole Miss relievers recorded 23 outs (excluding the seven innings Mike Mayers technically pitched in relief on Saturday). Greenwood faced just one batter.
