Former Lafayette standout wins coaching award

University of Akron offensive line coach Alan Arrington is the recipient the Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation’s College Assistant Coach of the Year Award. He was honored at the Chapter’s 25th Annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet on Tuesday night in Westlake, Ohio.

In 2012, Arrington tutored a Zips front line that supported an offense ranked first in the Mid-American Conference and 16th nationally in passing (312.8 ypg) and sixth in the league. Akron also ranked 45th in the country in total offense (427.2 ypg). He is in his second season on head coach Terry Bowden’s staff at UA, after working under his direction for three seasons at North Alabama. (May 10, 2013, Page 7A)
