Big hit eludes Oxford in loss to Tigers

The hit eluded Oxford Tuesday evening.

With the season hanging in the balance, the Charger baseball team consistently found ways to get on base against the defending MHSAA Class 5A champion Hernando Tigers.

In all but one inning the Chargers reached base via a number of ways. However, Oxford could never come up with the hit when it mattered most in front of a capacity crowd at Edwin Moak Field.

The visiting Tigers weren’t afforded nearly as many opportunities as Oxford but made the most of theirs, squeaking past the home team 4-1 to advance to face New Hope in the 5A North Half series beginning Thursday.
