Alabama sends Rebels packing

HOOVER, Ala. — As Rebel skipper Mike Bianco pointed out following Thursday’s 7-5 loss to seventh-seeded Alabama, life in the Southeastern Conference can be a cruel at times.

Facing elimination, the sixth-seeded Rebels played a second-straight 10-inning game but were unable to come up with run-scoring at-bats in the late innings.

With the loss, the Rebels (37-22 overall) were eliminated from the tournament while the Tide (34-25) advanced to face LSU, who lost to Arkansas 4-1 later in the evening.
