UK edges out No. 18 Rebels 3-2

With his hands in his jacket pockets and his hat pulled down low over his forehead, Bobby Wahl talked to the media following Thursday night’s 3-2 loss to Kentucky in somber tones.

Virtually talking through the bill of his hat as he looked at the ground and through the assembled reporters, Wahl talked as though he had been shelled.

But he hadn’t.

Admittedly, he struggled early leaving pitches up and didn’t have his best stuff. But through it all, he did what head coach Mike Bianco has demanded of his legitimate aces over the years: Bear down and give the team a chance.

Wahl did just that. Through seven innings, the junior right-hander allowed just one run and left the game with a 2-1 lead.

Wahl didn’t see it that way, however.
