VIDEO BLOG: Both of Ole Miss’ men’s and women’s tennis teams received good news Tuesday.
Watching their respective NCAA selection shows at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center, both squads learned their upcoming fate.
The men earned a six seed and will host Lehigh, Memphis and BYU to open the NCAA Tournament May 10-11.
Ole Miss will open against Lehigh, the Patriot League champs.
This mark’s Lehigh’s first ever inclusion in the NCAA Tournament; by contrast, Ole Miss is making its 22nd appearance and is 38-21 all-time.
The Lady Rebels will hit the road to open the tournament, traveling to Texas Tech’s regional in Lubbock, Texas, along with Duke — Ole Miss’ first opponent — and College of Charleston.
Duke opened the season as the No. 3 team in the country and jumped up to No. 2, but due to several key injuries the Blue Devils have dropped six of their last seven matches heading into the NCAA Tournament.
Below is Ole Miss women’s coach Mark Beyers, discussing his team’s draw:
