Oxford remains undefeated in tennis

Oxford defeated New Albany Friday and then traveled to Meridian Saturday where it won two matches in the Newton County Tournament.

Against New Albany, Quinn Elliott won the boys singles match, 7-5, 6-3. Amanda Lowery lost the girls singles match 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), (3-10). Robert Nance and Baxter Elliott won at No. 1 boys doubles, 6-4, 6-4. The No. 2 boys doubles team of Arlis Williams and Callan Shinall 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). The No. 1 girls doubles team of Sarah Nash and McClellan Davis won 7-5, 6-3. The No. 2 doubles team of Kara Rose and Madison Cobb won 7-5, 6-1, while Embrey Inman and Will Swindoll won mixed doubles, 6-3, 6-3. The Chargers defeated Newton County 6-1 and then beat West Lauderdale 6-1 on Saturday. Against Newton County, Baxter Elliott won boys singles 6-0, 6-2, while Rose lost girls singles 5-7, 4-6. Swindoll and Quinn Elliott won No. 1 boys doubles 6-1, 6-2, Williams and Shinall won No. 2 boys doubles 6-0, 6-3. Nash and Davis won No. 1 girls doubles 6-4, 7-5, Emily Morgan and Lillian Williams won No. 2 girls doubles 6-1, 6-4. Nance and Cobb won mixed doubles 6-2, 6-3. Agaisnt West Lauderdale, Swindoll won boys singles 6-0, 6-1, while Swayze Elliott won girls singles 6-4, 6-1. Nance and Quinn Elliott won No. 1 boys doubles 6-0, 6-0, Arlis Williams and Shinall won No. 2 boys doubles 6-0, 6-1. Nash and Davis won No. 1 girls doubles 6-2, 6-7 (15-13), Baxter Elliott and Rose won mixed doubles 6-7, 7-6 (10-4), while Cobb and Emily Morgan lost No. 2 girls doubles 6-7, 6-4 (6-10).
