Paced by an complete-game pitching performance from Avery McCullough, the Lafayette Lady Commodore softball team defeated North Pontotoc 4-0 in Ecru Tuesday night.
McCullough scattered five hits over her seven innings of work. She finished with five strikeouts against three walks and of her 94 pitches, 62 went for strikes. McCullough’s pitching was aided by two double plays. Lafayette had 10 hits as a team, with Amber Adams and Katrina Wilson leading the way with two hits apiece. Kendall Glass, Adams and Wilson each had an RBI in the win. Glass recorded a triple, while Adams and McCullough each had a double.
Lafayette will return to action Friday at home against Senatobia.
The Lady Commodores are currently in a tie for first place in Division 2-4A and are looking to gain a split with Senatobia, which defeated the Lady ‘Dores 7-6 earlier in the season. (April 3, 2013, Page 9)
