Ricin in crude form

The ricin found in letters sent to President Barack Obama and two others was a “crude” version of the potentially deadly toxin, an FBI agent said Monday at the preliminary and detention hearing being held  in Oxford at the Federal Courthouse.
FBI Agent Brandon Grant said preliminary testing of the substance, showed the ricin, made from castor beans, was simpy crushed up in a blender or coffee grinder but still could have been harmful or fatal.
The hearing began Friday and continued at 10:30 a.m. Monday. After breaking for lunch, the hearing continued at 1:45 p.m. Monday for about 30 minutes until the judge announced she needed to continue the hearing until 9 this morning.
The purpose of the hearing is to determine if there’s enough evidence to present the case to a grand jury and set a possible bond for Curtis.
