WVHS remains undefeated in softball

The Water Valley Lady Blue Devils remained undefeated on the season with a 5-2 win over Vardaman Tuesday at Water Valley.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, WVHS (3-0 overall) scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead for good. The Lady Blue Devils then scored three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-1 lead.  WVHS had six hits in the win with Kelsey Neely leading the way with two hits and two RBIs. Callie Davis had a double and drove in a run, while Tyler Epes, Shade Epes and Tonya Phillips each had a hit. KeKe Farrow also had an RBI.

Tyler Epes went the distance in the pitching circle for WVHS. She allowed just three hits and no walks while garnering nine strikeouts. WVHS returns to action Friday at home against Bruce. The junior varsity will begin the doubleheader at 5 p.m. (March 7, 2013, Page 9)
