Rosa Fort no match for LHS

The Lafayette tennis team made quick work of an undermatched Tunica-Rosa Fort squad Monday at the courts behind Oxford-University Stadium by picking up a 7-0 victory.

After picking up forfeit 6-0, 6-0 wins at boys singles (Tanner Odom), girls singles (Cara Anne Sallis), and both boy’s doubles (Jacob Roberts and Hunter Knight at No. 1 and Garrett Reed and Nathan Hollis at No. 2), the ‘Dores cruised the rest of the way. Brittany Mann and Abbey Pate earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 girls doubles, Abby Arrington and Sadie Wilson won 6-3, 6-1 at No.2 girls doubles and Brett Bowen and Cara Stewart finished off Rosa Fort with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

The victory improved Lafayette to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 2-4A play.

Lafayette will return to action Thursday against Lewisburg at the O-U Stadium courts.

Action is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. (March 5, 2013, Page 8)
