Rebs continue to overcome adversity

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Adversity is something the Ole Miss men’s basketball team has had to overcome all year long. From losing front line players DeMarco Cox and Aaron Jones, to losing point guard Jarvis Summers in the Southeastern Conference Tournament, the Rebels dealt with the setbacks and continued to win games in the process.

The two players that stepped up for Summers and handled the point guard roles in wins over Missouri, Vanderbilt and Florida in the SEC Tournament were Derrick Millinghaus and LaDarius White. Millinghaus’ running floater with 1.1 seconds left on the clock against Missouri started the three-day run to the school’s first tournament title since 1981. The freshman from Schenectady, N.Y., finished with 11 points in the 64-62 win over Missouri and then wrapped up his first SEC experience by scoring five points, garnering two steals and grabbing two rebounds in 11 minutes in the 66-63 win over Florida.
