Oxford’s Chargers received an early Easter present in the form of a 7-6 come-from-behind win over New Hope Wednesday night at Edwin Moak Field. One night after defeating Saltillo 10-0, the Chargers improved to 2-1 in Division 2-5A play with the gritty win over the Trojans, a team that shut the Chargers out just two weeks ago.
Jason Barber was the hero in the win for the Chargers. Not only did he go the distance on the mound to earn his third win of the year, he also drove in the game-winning run when he was hit by Landon Boyd with the bases loaded. Barber gave up three of the six runs he allowed in the top of the seventh on three hits, but he was able to stay focused at the plate in order to garner the run that ultimately sealed the game for the Chargers (12-5 overall).
