LHS baseball improves to 2-0 in 2-4A

The Lafayette baseball team improved to 2-0 in Division 2-4A play Thursday by knocking off New Albany 4-3 on the road. The win marks Lafayette’s second win against New Albany in a week.

The ‘Dores were out-hit 7-4 and committed four errors but were still able to come away with the win.

Catcher Jake McPhail led LHS with two hits and two RBIs.

Eli Murphree struck out three in five innings to earn the win, while T.J. Hollis also struck out three in the final two innings to earn the save. D.K. Buford and John Murphree each stole three bases.

Lafayette returns to the diamond Saturday for a 4 p.m. game at South Panola, weather permitting. LHS returns to division play Monday with a 7 p.m. home contest against Lewisburg. (March 22, 2013, Page 8A)
