Lafayette sweeps Senatobia in tennis

A 7-0 win over Senatobia Tuesday earned the Lafayette Commodores a spot in next month’s Class 4A playoffs.

LHS improved to 5-3 overall with the win and finished Division 2-4A play with a 4-1 mark. In singles play, Brett Bowen defeated Tyler Newman 6-4, 6-0, while Sadie Wilson defeated Emily Newman 7-5, 6-2. At No. 1 boys doubles, Hunter Knight and Garrett Reed beat James Norris and Billy Roberts 6-4, 6-2. The No. 2 boys doubles team of Nathan Hollis and Tanner Odom defeated Joseph Norris and Arnoldo F 6-4, 7-6. In girls doubles, Brittany Mann and Abbey Pate got past Macey Magee and Anne Legette 6-4, 7-5, while the No. 2 girls doubles team of Cara Anne Sallis and Lindsey Lott topped Madison Shaw and Caroline Coleman 6-0, 6-0. Rounding out the wins for the Commodores was the mixed doubles team of Jacob Roberts and Abby Arrington, who defeated Austin Baker and Camille Rowan 6-3, 6-0.
