It could have been a few degrees warmer, as one spectator at W.V. Brewer field remarked, but aside from chilled temperatures, Tuesday was a near-perfect day for the continuation of the Oxford-Lafayette Spring Break Tournament.
Perhaps it was the smooth blue skies. Or maybe it was the fact most of their classmates were anywhere — tropical destinations, possibly? — but at LHS. Whatever the reason, the Lafayette Commodores weren’t adequately focused when they first stepped on to the field to face Horn Lake.
That changed in a hurry after first-year coach Patrick Robey got onto his ‘Dores following the first inning. The players immediately snapped to and responded by run ruling the Eagles 12-2 in six innings.
