Lady ‘Dores pound Horn Lake

A 17-hit attack on offense higlighted the Lafayette Lady Commodores’ 8-3 win over Class 6A Horn Lake Thursday night. Six players had at least two hits in the win, while three players — Kendall Glass, Emily Robinson and Moesha Phillips — each had three hits in the win. Glass, Jada McIntosh, Tori Blackbourn, Robinson and Phillips each had a double. 

Blackbourn and Avery McCullough each scored two runs to lead the team. McIntosh, Blackbourn and McCullough each had two hits for LHS, which scored three runs in the top of the third and then broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the top of the sixth.

Brooke Whitten earned the complete-game victory in the pitching circle. She finished with three strikeouts against no walks and only gave up six hits against 27 batters faced.

Lafayette will return to action this weekend in the Tupelo Tournament. (March 1, 2013, Page 8A)
