Doctor clears Oxford’s Elliott to play

The Oxford baseball team got a big boost Wednesday with the news that senior slugger William Elliott was fully cleared by his doctor to return to the diamond.

Elliott injured his left wrist during the offseason and as a result missed Oxford’s first seven games.

The Alabama signee won’t start tonight when the Chargers (6-1 overall) play at Lafayette (3-2), but OHS head coach Chris Baughman said Elliott will likely begin to get eased back into the lineup by next week’s annual Spring Break tournament at the latest.
