Clement, Devils polish off Bruce

WATER VALLEY — A third straight complete-game effort on the mound highlighted the final game of the Water Valley Spring Break Tournament. The Blue Devils pulled to .500 for the first time this season Tuesday night with a 6-1 win over Bruce, the defending MHSAA Class 2A state champions.

Water Valley, which defeated North Delta 7-0 to start the day thanks to a complete-game effort from Cody Greer, was led on the mound against Bruce by Cooper Clement, who was able to keep the Trojans at bay with a couple of pitches and some good fielding on his part. Clement started three double plays on the night and picked off a runner on second to help keep the Trojans out of scoring position.
