Arkansas blows out OM

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Ole Miss women’s basketball team fell on the road to Arkansas 93-52 in the Lady Rebels’ final game of the 2012-13 season.

With the loss Ole Miss ends the season 9-20 overall (2-14 Southeastern Conference) while Arkansas improved to 18-11 overall (6-10 SEC).

Valencia McFarland led Ole Miss with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists. Gracie Frizzell added eight points for Ole Miss.

Ole Miss started the game with an early 8-2 lead with two minutes gone in the game. The Lady Rebels forced the Razorbacks into six turnovers in their first seven possessions.

Arkansas took its first lead of the game, 14-12, with 13:54 remaining in the first half. The Razorbacks went on an 11-2 run to go ahead 32-20 with 7:32 to play.

At the half, Arkansas led 46-30. McFarland led Ole Miss with 12 points while Danielle McCray added six. As a team, Ole Miss shot 41.4 percent (12-29) from the floor while Arkansas shot 58.6 percent (17-29).

Never in doubt

A free throw from Courtney Marbra to open the second half, cut the Razorbacks’ lead to 46-31. Arkansas pushed its lead to 22, 58-36, with 14:58 left to play. (March 4, 2013, Page 4B)
