Lady ‘Dores open season with split

The Lafayette softball team opened the 2013 season with a split in the Charger Softball Classic.

Lafayette defeated Olive Branch 7-2 before losing 5-4 to West Union. Against Olive Branch, the Lady Commodores collected 10 hits and drove in five runs. Amber Adams led the offensive attack with three hits. Kendall Glass and Rae Drewrey each had two hits. Tori Blackbourn led the team with two RBIs. Brooke Whitten earned the win by logging 4.2 innings of work and only allowing two hits and one walk during her time in the circle. In the loss to West Union, Whitten gave up eight hits and five runs, although only two were earned. Lafayette finished with four errors. Adams had the lone extra base hit, a double, and one of two RBIs. The other RBI went to Katrina Wilson.
