Lafayette’s depth on the boys side of the tennis team made a big difference in Wednesday’s 4-3 win over Class 6A Grenada at the John Leslie Courts.
In boys singles, Lafayette’s Nathan Hollis defeated Chase Alldread 6-1, 4-6, (10-8). The No. 1 boys doubles team of Jacob Roberts and Hunter Knight defeated Tanner Aldridge and Marty Gilliland 6-0, 6-1, while the No. 2 boys doubles team of Brett Bowen and Garrett Reed topped Mitchell Jones and Jamie Fortier 6-4, 6-1.
Lafayette’s fourth victory came at mixed doubles as Tanner Odom and Brittany Mann beat Taylor Hames and Calie Bowen 6-3, 7-5. Grenada’s Rachel Braswell defeated Lindsey Lott 6-0, 6-0 in girls singles. The Chargers’ No. 1 girls doubles team of Alexandra Brasher and Abby Vance downed Maddie Welch and Emma Wilson, 6-2, 6-0, while their No. 2 girls doubles team of Sarah Kate Griffin and Etta Jennings outlasted Abbey Pate and Cara Anne Sallis, 6-4, 2-6 (10-8).
