Composed OHS triumphs over Pearl

CLINTON — The Oxford Chargers didn’t act like the new kids on the block Saturday night at Clinton High.

Anything but.

Facing the eight-time state champion Pearl Pirates, the Chargers were well versed in what they were up against heading into their MHSAA Class 5A State Championship debut.

If the Chargers were scared or nervous, they didn’t show it; with the exception of the slightly premature celebration that spilled onto the turf 30 seconds early, Oxford stayed cool, calm and collected.

The been-there-before demeanor paid off as the Chargers used two first half goals to up-end Pearl 2-0.
