City schools open; roads clear

The community appears to have dodged what could have been a nasty ice storm. Lafayette County Emergency Management Coordinator David Shaw just issued the following statement: “Roads are wet, but there are no reports of ice anywhere in the county. Temps are hovering around freezing now, but should rise well above freezing today. There is some light patchy fog in some areas. Drive careful!” And the Oxford School District issued this statement around 6 this morning:”For Wednesday, January 16, all schools will begin at normal time. Pre-K is cancelled for today.” (January 16, 2013)
