Oxford grounds Rockets in opener

When it comes to that point in the season when it’s win or go home, the how isn’t nearly as important as the end result.

After a week away from the pitch, it took the Oxford boys soccer team a while to find its groove against the visiting Neshoba Central Rockets Tuesday night at Bobby Holcomb Field.

The Chargers eventually kicked the rust off, and, in doing so, eliminated Neshoba Central from the MHSAA Class 5A playoffs with a 3-1 victory.

With the win, Oxford (14-3-3 overall) advances to the second round to face Center Hill on Saturday at 6 p.m. (January 23, 2013, Page 1B)
