SALTILLO — As it turns out, the postponement of last Tuesday’s home doubleheader with West Point due to weather benefited the Oxford Lady Chargers and Chargers.
In the case of the Lady Chargers, who lost by 44 points to New Hope in the Division 2-5A opener, not playing West Point gave them that much more time to figure out a way to play without leading scorer and rebounder, Alexus Malone, who suffered an ankle injury just before the New Hope game. Oxford executed on offense and defense as a collective group Friday night and the end result was a 65-40 win over division foe Saltillo. (January 21, 2013, Page 9)
