Ole Miss forces OT but can’t claim win

Chalk up Sunday’s loss as another close one that got away from the Ole Miss women’s basketball team.

Courtney Marbra tied the game with a last-second putback in regulation but the elation that ensued would be short lived as Missouri was able to edge the Lady Rebels 73-72 in overtime at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.

With 14.8 seconds remaining in regulation, junior guard Valencia McFarland drove the length of the court but missed the mark on her shot. Marbra, stationed under the basket, was able to tip the miss back in with 1.3 seconds remaining.

Ole Miss (7-11 overall, 0-5 SEC) led momentarily, 66-65, in overtime but the visiting Lady Tigers (13-6, 2-3) ultimately made enough shots down the stretch to claim the victory at the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum. (January 21, 2013, Page 11)
