Ole Miss’ run on highly rated football prospects continued over the weekend with a verbal pledge from four-star defensive end Elijah Daniel late Sunday night. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound native of Avon, Ind., chose the Rebels over Arizona State, the school he visited this weekend, Mississippi State and Florida, among others. Daniel was also committed to Clemson during the season.
Daniel is rated as the No. 81 overall player, regardless of position, in the nation by 24/7 Sports and the No. 8 strongside defensive end by Rivals.com, who also ranks him No. 121 on their Top 250 players list.
Phone calls to Daniel seeking comment this morning were not successful. He did tell Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit that he made his mind up on the way back to Indiana. (January 21, 2013, Page 10)
