Johnny Hill’s desire to make future football schedules tougher on the gridiron is reflected in the 2013 edition. The Oxford Chargers open the year against Jackson Prep on Aug. 23 in a game that could be played at Ole Miss’ Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. If not, the Chargers would host the Patriots at Bobby Holcomb Field.
Prep, led by Ole Miss commitment Ryan Buchanan at quarterback, went 13-0 in 2012 and won the AAA Division I state championship. Prep has routinely played schools that compete in the MHSAA and this year the Patriots defeated Class 5A Pearl 9-0. (December 7, 2012, Page 7A)
