Lafayette goes 1-1 over weekend

Two trips to holiday tournaments produced a win and a loss for the Lafayette Commodores. LHS beat Greenville St. Joe 61-38 in the Humphreys County Holiday Classic on Friday night before falling 57-54 to Shannon Saturday in the Calhoun City Loggins Classic. In the win, Montreal Nabors led the 3-4 Commodores with 13 points. Brandon Mack finished with 11 points, Tre Shaw contributed 10 points and nine rebounds, while Aaron Mathis and Joshua Barry finished with eight and seven points respectively. In the loss to the Red Raiders, Barry led the way with 14 points. Nabors had 11, Cam Pettis chipped in 10, while Mack and Shaw both had eight points and 11 rebounds. Lafayette will play two games in the annual “O” Town Showdown Friday and Saturday in the Oxford High gym. The Commodores’ first game comes Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Byhalia. The Lady Commodores will also play two games, beginning Friday against Ashland at 3 p.m. Saturday the Commodores will play Ashland at 5:30, while the Lady ‘Dores will play Coffeeville at 4 p.m. (December 24, 2012, Page 11)
